About the Event
Capvine's Virtual Day in the Life event explores alternative careers within the International Development sector. We'll be joined by Sanum Jain, Programme Manager at Crown Agents and Adrienne Joy, Technical Expert at Advocates for International Development (A4ID) as they speak candidly about what it means to work in International Development in 2021. Quite similar to previous sessions, we're championing honest and tailored conversations about the opportunities within the sector.

About the Speakers
Sanum Jain is a Programme Manager with 7 years experience in the social impact sectors. She currently works for Crown Agents where she manages a portfolio of grants-based programmes on behalf of clients including African governments and global donor organisations. She previously was a co-founding member of a start-up social enterprise focused on water access in Ghana. Sanum has an MSc in Sustainability & Management from University of Bath and Bachelors in Economics and Development Studies from The University of Manchester.
Through co-leading REDI collective, Sanum aims to address the issue of under-representation of Ethnic Minorities in UK International Development organisations whilst providing a platform for practitioners of colour to network, exchange knowledge and share opportunities. In particular, Sanum is interested in improving PoC representation at leadership levels within the sector.

Adrienne Joy is the ROLE UK Programme Manager at A4ID, responsible for delivering activities funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office which aim to improve rule of law environments in developing countries. The Programme supports partnerships between UK legal and judicial expertise, and their counterparts in ODA eligible countries, to address rule of law issues which improve laws, policies, systems and practices in these countries.
Adrienne joined the A4ID team in 2018 after four years working on peacebuilding, conflict mediation and development in Myanmar. Her previous work has included roles with the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue and the EU Delegation to Myanmar, as well as consultancies with USIP, the Paung Sie Facility, and others. She has a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford, and a master’s in International Development from Tsinghua University, Beijing.
