Social Development Direct (SDDirect) are seeking an Administrative and Research Intern to support the delivery of their international projects and research, with a focus on gender equality and inclusion.

 

Candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability to undertake research and administrative support tasks, under the supervision of project teams. Candidates with research experience and/or additional social media and design skills are particularly encouraged to apply.

Overall purpose of the role

This position will support colleagues across the organisation by undertaking administrative and research tasks across a range of impactful projects and organisational areas. In particular, the candidate will provide extensive administrative support to one of our flagship safeguarding programmes on an ongoing basis, working closely with the Programme Manager and Project Officer. The position will be home-based, with opportunity to use SDDirect’s office space in London (subject to Covid-19 restrictions).

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Administrative and logistical support to research and project teams.

  • Research support on a range of global issues.

  • Arranging and coordinating online interviews, global webinars workshops and other learning events with project partners, including note-taking and reporting.

  • Conducting due diligence processes and drafting consultant contracts under the supervision of project managers.

  • Support to marketing, social media and client outreach.

  • Following knowledge management procedures and assisting with IT processes.

  • Preparation and editing of documents including templates, reports, infographics, brochures and promotional materials, etc.

  • Assisting with the purchasing of products and assets and maintaining the project asset register.

  • Providing other ad-hoc administrative support to the team, ensuring that administrative tasks are executed effectively and performed to the highest standard.

Person specification

Essential:

  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

  • Demonstrable research and analytical skills (for example through a university degree)

  • Familiarity with office, web and video-conferencing software

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people

  • Excellent written, verbal and presentational skills

  • A clear commitment to human rights, gender equality and social justice

  • A self-starter and strong team player

  • Fluency in written and spoken English

  • Ability to work legally in the UK

Desirable:

 

  • Qualitative or quantitative research skills, with a relevant post-graduate qualification

  • Digital communications and/or graphic design skills

  • Experience of working internationally

  • Fluency in other languages
